About Us

Background

MyBeanCounter was established in response to demand from small local businesses for reliable, efficient and cost-effective support on the financial front.

So often financial records and reporting can be mystifying to the layman – our aim is to ensure that none of our clients is left in the dark – that you fully understand how the figures have been arrived at. We focus on sorting out your financial and accounting affairs so that you can focus on what you do best – using the skills you have to run a successful business.

Our People

Michele Little MA (Cantab) ACA ATII

MyBeanCounter was established by Michele Little, a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor with over 18 years experience advising clients.

Having graduated from Cambridge with an Economics degree, Michele then trained in a regional practice of Coopers & Lybrand.  She learnt her accounting skills based on the classic “brown paper bag” client – one who brings receipts, cheque stubs and bank statements in random order hoping they turn into a set of accounts.

Moving on to a larger client base in London, Michele then dealt with more complex accounting issues and management of larger organisations whilst at Stoy Hayward. Having qualified as a chartered accountant she then moved to Deloitte & Touche to practice corporate tax. During her 7 years there, she represented the firm and key industry bodies in negotiations with the Inland Revenue and the US tax authorities on the implementation of new legislation.

Having given up full-time employment to be at home with her children, Michele continued to be involved with accounting, by taking up two voluntary positions of treasurer with a local playgroup and MIND in Ealing & Hounslow. With her sons both now at school, she has gradually grown the practice on a local level.

Helen Kilsby MA (Cantab) ACA

Helen has an MA(Hons) in Engineering from Cambridge and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PWC (then Coopers & Lybrand) in 1994.  She spent the next ten years working (latterly) as a Director in the Corporate Finance team at Altium Capital, a pan-European investment bank formerly part of Apax Partners, providing advice to small and medium sized businesses on private and public equity and debt fundraisings, public offers, public-to-private transactions, etc in a wide range of industry sectors.  She left Altium in 2004 to look after her three sons and now acts as a part time consultant to MyBeanCounter providing bookkeeping and accounting services to local businesses.
